1. - Switching on the hazard lights makes one exempt from all road rules and permits the driver to park where he or she may wish for any period of time;
2. - The freeway speed limit of 130km/h is only to be adhered to by those who don't possess the driving skills to roll at higher speeds;
3. - Making sandwiches with le plat de jour is a big no no;
4. - Rendezvous are given as vague periods such as ‘mid afternoon’ rather than precise times;
5. - Queue jumping is rife;
6. - The French consider Judo and Fencing the showpiece events of the Olympic Games;
7. - Anything less than two hours off for lunch is pas normal;

For a particularly big meal, un trou normand (shot of liqueur with a scoop of sorbet) may be required at some stage to create space for additional food.
